Record Store Day 2022
In 1988, the world's leading post-modern polka band Brave Combo answered a call to accompany ‘60s falsetto superstar Tiny Tim on what was intended to be a comeback album. Finally released in 1996, Girl is one of the most phenomenal albums of Tiny Tim's unlikely 45 year career. It features the charismatic crooner's takes on classics like "Stairway to Heaven," "New York, New York," and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," all performed in his inimitable style. Sadly, Tiny's long-awaited comeback album would be his swan song as the Eternal Troubadour succumbed to a fatal heart attack a few short months after the album's release.
This double-LP 25th anniversary edition is mastered from original source materials and features a second disc comprised of never-before-heard alternate mixes and outtakes, including Tiny Tim's previously unreleased versions of "Blue Moon," "Across the Universe," and "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da." In addition to deluxe gatefold packaging, the set will feature a comprehensive booklet comprised of rare photos, never-before-seen archival materials and brand-new liner notes from producer Big Bucks Burnett, Tiny Tim's "Eternal Princess" and muse Stephanie Bohn, Brave Combo band leader Carl Finch, Tiny Tim biographer Justin Martell, and others. Pressed on opaque pink vinyl.

Chi-Sound Records was launched in 1976, by US music industry executive and soul producer Carl Davis, and one of the label’s first singles, which has endured the test of time and had a 21st Century resurgence by being the theme tune to the UK Broadcaster/Presenter/DJ, Norman Jay MBE, to open his national BBC Radio show.
The Chicago label produced some of the great soul Artists of the late ‘70s and became a new home for the legendary ‘Duke of Earl’, Gene Chandler, whose disco-era classic, “Get Down”, tore-up the dancefloors around the world. Other notable signings for the Chicago label included The Chi-Lites, Manchild (featuring a young Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds), The Impressions, Sydney Joe Qualls, The Dells and Magnum Force.

On Saturday, April 23, Ben Vaughn’s celebrated artistic career will come full circle with the release of The World Of Ben Vaughn. A return to his roots. His recording roots, that is.
In 1986, Ben Vaughn debuted his first album on vinyl only. He had no choice—the CD player had yet to become an everyday home appliance.
Meeting deadlines is nothing new for Vaughn. After releasing seven albums (including the legendary Rambler ’65, recorded entirely in his car) and touring internationally, he spent more than a decade in Hollywood creating television music for Third Rock From The Sun and That ’70s Show and scoring numerous films.
To realize his vinyl vision, Vaughn recorded much of the new album in the Mojave Desert at the Relay Shack, well-known to fans of his syndicated radio show, The Many Moods Of Ben Vaughn. With not a soul around for miles in any direction, he laid down all the tracks, jumping from one instrument to another. Ben’s longstanding experience as a record producer (Arthur Alexander, Ween, Los Straitjackets, Nancy Sinatra, Charlie Feathers), his renown as a songwriter (Marshall Crenshaw recorded “I’m Sorry But So Is Brenda Lee”) and his collaborations with such artists as Alex Chilton, Alan Vega, and Rodney Crowell have earned him a reputation as a true career artist. But not one who’s tied to the past. Just recently, indie rock icons Deer Tick released a version of his classic “Too Sensitive For This World.” His radio show, meanwhile, continues to attract a growing multi-generational listenership.
Tied in with the Record Store Day release of The World Of Ben Vaughn will be a string of U.S. dates and a tour of Spain in May. “I’m excited about performing the new songs in front of people,” says Ben, “and it looks like that might actually be allowed to happen now!”

Originally released in 1990, Boy Child gathered the very best Scott Walker-penned solo material from his first five solo albums for Philips Records. This expanded 2LP set features the full collection with additional classics such as “Always Coming Back to You” and “30th Century Man,” “Angels of Ashes,” and the rare non-album track, “The Rope and the Colt.” The album artwork also includes the original liner notes by Marc Almond from 1990, Neil Hannon’s notes from 2000, and brand-new notes from Jarvis Cocker (which are exclusive to this edition). The Whole Darn Family emerged from Richmond, Virginia in the late 70’s and were managed, produced and promoted by August (Mr.Wiggles) Moon who ran an independent label called Soul International Records from a storefront in Richmond’s Southside District. “Seven Minutes of Funk” has become a cult favorite as it’s been sampled by Jay-Z, Wu-Tang Clan, Foxy Brown, Method Man, Biggie Smalls and countless other hip-hop artists. The LP is a gem to find for any top D.J., and a hunted collector’s item.
